About us

Hello, Kia ora...

Welcome to our home.

South Fiord Bed & Breakfast.

Proudly New Zealand owned and operated.

We completed the building of  our new home in late  2014.

South Fiord is set on 5 acres, only a few minutes from town.

With stunning views of the mountains and lake Te Anau, from all rooms,

We both come from a rural background with over 20 years farming sheep & beef in the high country of Central Otago. We have 3 wonderful children, 2 have left the nest and youngest son Nigel still at home with his cat named stripe.

We embraced a change of life style in 2009, with the move to Te Anau

John is a paramedic and  station manger for St John Ambulance here in Te Anau

A little about John

Being a Paramedic in rural Te Anau involves the challenges of helicopter work in remote areas and road based work within our town. He works on 4 day shift rotation. On his days off he still enjoys getting out in the bush for hunting and tramping, and Jet boating.

John enjoys many a hour or so in his large workshop,

Johns knowledge is wide and varied and enjoys a great chat in the evenings, (well any time really).

Linda

I enjoy gardening and have a new challenge: to landscape and establish new gardens, with a mix of natives, flowers, including a large tunnel house for fruit and vegetables.

You will find my free range chooks around the yard, and through the fence we have sheep and house cow Lotty whom roam in their paddocks. I enjoy milking Lotty and making cheese when the time allows. Baking and deserts are my favorites to cook, along with harvesting and preserving jams, chutneys, sauces.

I also enjoy the great out doors, and always keen for a walk in the bush with John. I also work part time halfway to Milford Sound.

Nigel

Our son Nigel works locally in Te Anau. He enjoys meeting and chatting to guests if he's around,

Our other 2 children live further a field, with there owen family

Our Family looks forward to meeting you all and sharing our knowledge of this unique country.

This awesome place has so much to offer – Hiking, Tramping, Fishing, Photography, Unique wildlife, Biking – and being a World Heritage Area makes it extra special too.
